Sheet S-101GAI Front Desk for Garage Doors

Garage door answering service that flags urgent calls

An AI answering service for a garage door company picks up when your technicians are on a ladder or the office is closed, asks whether the door is stuck, off its track, has a broken spring or needs a new install, captures the address and callback number, flags urgent calls, and texts you the details. It does not diagnose, quote or dispatch.

S-101G.1 · Call types

The calls a garage door line gets, sorted by what they need

Garage door callers range from a stuck-open door at night to a homeowner pricing a new one. They should not wait in the same queue.

  • Flag first

    Door stuck open

The door will not close and the garage, and often the house, cannot be secured. Flagged for first callback, especially after dark.

  • Flag first

    Broken spring or off-track door

A loud bang, a door that will not lift, a car stuck inside, or a caller shut out of the house. Recorded as described, with no repair advice.

  • Routine

    Opener or remote trouble

The opener hums, a remote stopped working or the keypad is dead. Routine unless the door is stuck.

  • Lead

    New door or install quote

A replacement door, a new opener or a door for a remodel. Tagged as a lead so it does not sink under repair calls.

S-101G.2 · Triage

What the assistant asks a garage door caller

The questions stay on what the door is doing and whether anything is trapped or unsecured, in wording you review before go-live.

  1. Is the door stuck open, stuck closed, or moving but not right? The first split between a security problem and a repair that can wait.
  2. Is a car stuck inside, or is the home open and unsecured? These are the calls to return first.
  3. Did something snap or bang when it stopped working?Recorded in the caller’s words. The assistant does not interpret it.
  4. Does the opener run but the door will not move, or is the opener dead?Tells you whether the call is a door problem, an opener problem or both.
  5. What is the address, and is it a home or a business?Commercial doors can go to a different technician.
  6. What is the best number to reach you?So you can call back with nothing left to ask.

Detail 02 The summary you receive

Stuck door, spring or track, opener, or new install
Urgency flag
Marked when the door is stuck open or someone is shut in or out
Door status

Stuck-open doors and vehicles or people locked in or out are flagged for first callback. Opener and install questions are tagged separately. Dispatch stays with you.

The caller also gets a text confirming their details were received. See missed-call text-back for calls that never connect.

S-101G.4 · Sample call

A sample garage door call, start to finish

It is a little after ten at night. A homeowner calls and the assistant answers in your company name. The caller says the garage door made a loud bang that afternoon and is now stuck partway open and will not close. The assistant asks if a car is inside or the home is open, and the caller says a car is inside and the door is open about two feet.

It asks for the address, whether it is a home or a business, and the best callback number, then confirms them back. The caller gets a text that the details were received.

Your summary arrives marked urgent: door stuck partly open after a bang, vehicle inside, address, number. You call the customer and decide who goes. The assistant did not say what broke, did not tell the caller to touch the door and promised no arrival time.

The unsecured door is the call that cannot wait

A door stuck open leaves a garage, and often a house, that cannot be locked for the night. The same line also carries opener questions that can wait until morning and install quotes worth keeping. Asking the same short questions every time keeps the stuck-open call at the top of your callback list while the quote request still gets recorded.

Detail 03 It won't

  • Diagnose a broken spring, cable or track
  • Tell a caller to lift, force or release the door by hand
  • Quote a repair, a part or a new door
  • Promise a technician arrival time

What it costs is just below, with the arithmetic.

S-101G.6 · Missed-call math

The missed-call math, with your own numbers

Revenue at risk each week equals the calls you miss, times the share of those that were new-customer jobs, times your average job value. Count a week of missed calls from your phone log, then fill in the three numbers yourself.

Your average job value. A spring or opener repair is a smaller job than a new door. Use the average of what a new caller usually books.

This is the ceiling, not a forecast. Not every missed call would have become a job, and an AI receptionist does not rescue every one. Put your own result next to the monthly price above and decide for yourself.

Garage Doors AI Front Desk questions

What does a garage door answering service do after hours?

It answers the call, asks whether the door is stuck open, stuck closed or off track, collects the address and a callback number, and texts you a summary with urgent calls flagged. It does not diagnose the door or send a technician.

How is an AI garage door phone answering service different from a live one?

A live service puts a person on the line to take a message. Our assistant answers with a script you approve, asks the same triage questions on every call and sends you a text summary. Either way, the callback, the quote and the dispatch stay with you.

Can it tell a stuck-open door from an opener that needs a new remote?

It asks what the door is doing and whether a car is inside or the home is unsecured, then tags the call. Stuck-open and shut-in or shut-out calls are flagged. A dead remote is captured as a routine call.

Will it tell a caller how to release or fix the door?

No. It records what the caller reports and flags the call. It does not diagnose, and anything outside its script is handed to you.

Can it capture new door and install requests?

Yes. It asks what the caller wants, such as a replacement door, a new opener or a quote for a remodel, and tags it as a lead so it is separate from repair calls. It does not give a price.

Do I need to tell garage door callers it is an AI or that a call is recorded?

This is general information, not legal advice. Disclosure and call-recording rules vary, and Florida has its own consent requirements. Confirm your greeting and any recording wording with a Florida attorney before go-live.
